Whose Idea of a Joke was this anyway?

 Day 34

Left the RV park early in the morning and made my was south into Houston, then east on on the route.   Caught up with Ted again, he usually starts at 3:30 to 4 in the morning to avoid the heat of the day.  He is headed to the same town as I,  we chatted for a minute, then I resumed my usual pace which was much faster than his, being fully loaded.  The country side has been hilly with farms and homes and stands of trees along ridges.  Mostly deciduous trees.

As I went further east, I entered a fairly dense pine forest, followed by an even more dense deciduous forest.  As the route approaches the river valleys the roads get steeper and the climbs longer.  Passed Alley Spring,  notable for its very blue water.   There's a historical mill there,  and it has become a National Park.

Leslie stopped and checked it out,  Here's a couple of shots she took.

After Alley Springs, the serious climbing starts.  The road out of that gorge topped out at 15% grade.

I stopped at the top to catch my breath, and went on to our RV campsite at the Circle B RV park, along the Jack's Fork River. The road into the campsite was gravel, and steep enough that I had to get off and walk.

Here's a shot of the river at the campsite.  It's not more than knee deep,  gravel bottom, and moving pretty fast

Tomorrow the plan is to go 80 some miles to Farmington.  Going to be a long day.
